Having to go to a new place with unfamiliar people and culture, a child’s first day at school can be an exciting yet nerve wrecking experience – even more so if you are a little monster!

“BLEAGH” tells of a story about a little blue monster, Bleagh, and his first day at school. Being a monster, Bleagh not only looks different, but also behaves different from the rest of the children. From frightful growls to outlandish appetites, Bleagh displays bizarre traits befitting of his beastly lineage. However despite his revolting manner, Bleagh made friends who disregard his differences and are willing to help him get accustomed to the life in school.

“BLEAGH” is a delightful read with vibrant colours, cheerful narratives and wonderful character designs. Most of all, the book is a light-hearted take on the issue of social acceptance and inculcates to children, the importance of looking pass discrimination. Definitely a book worth adding to the kids’ book collection.

About the Author: Leana Lyn Doray is a trained educator, with double degree in Arts and Education at the University of Sydney. After teaching for four years in Singapore, she discovered her love for reading to young children and decided to provide holistic education above and beyond basic academia. So, here is Leana’s very first book, BLEAGH!

Do catch Leana, in person, at the ‘’Asian Festival of Children's Content’’ at the National library on 25 May 2013, Saturday, 3pm.

I want this book because I've been wanting some materials to use to engage my boys on values, but I haven't been able to find any age appropriate ones. I'm sure they will love this book!
